A Family in Need: Help Restore Hope for Mr. Osayande’s Family

Mr. Osayande is a hardworking man with a family of eleven, including his wife and nine children. He works with a government waste management organization, earning a modest monthly salary of ₦70,000 (approximately $45 USD). Sadly, even this small income is often delayed or paid in halves—making it nearly impossible to meet the family’s daily needs.

His wife supports the family by helping others sell drinks in the market, but she only earns a small commission from her sales—barely enough to provide a single meal for two people. Two of their older children now live with their grandmother in the village to help reduce expenses, but even with that sacrifice, the family continues to struggle to afford food, medication, and school fees.

The Osayande family’s home is also in urgent need of repair. Their kitchen roof was destroyed by heavy rain and wind, leaving it exposed to the weather. The bathroom and toilet are also in terrible condition, yet they continue to live in these unsafe and uncomfortable circumstances because they have no other choice.

At HopeMart, we are working to provide immediate relief by subsidizing food for this family and, more importantly, helping them restore dignity by repairing their kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. Our long-term goal is to empower them toward self-reliance by helping the family start a small business.

The estimated cost to fix their kitchen and bathroom is $450 USD.

Additionally, the budget to empower the family with a business start-up is $300 USD.
