Blessing S. Yahaya
SHOP OWNER

I am an undergraduate Communications student at Ensign College in the USA, pursuing my degree online while living in Benin City, Southern Nigeria. I am married with a daughter.

Having experienced poverty firsthand, I know what it means to be hungry and helpless. This is why I’m committed to making a meaningful impact in rural communities, where high living costs prevent many from accessing necessities like food. My work is driven by core values of transparency, empathy, compassion, and sustainability.

My ultimate goal is to become a media and TV personality, using my platform to advocate for women and inspire young girls. I want to be a voice for those who feel voiceless, offering protection, guidance, and hope. With the power of media to shape perceptions and reach millions, I aim to use it as a force for positive change and empowerment.

Brand Story

Our story begins with Mariam. At 59 years old, she is a mother of nine and a pillar of strength for her extended family. Born and raised in the small village of Agbede in Edo State, Nigeria, Mariam has spent her life farming a modest piece of family land. Each day, she toils under the sun, making garri from cassava, which she sells at the local market. With the meager income from her daily sales, she provides for her household, including ten children in her care, along with other family members who depend on her after her husband passed away about 20 years ago. Despite her tireless efforts, Mariam's income barely covers the cost of one meal a day for her family. Like many others in her community, she spends every waking moment working just to put food on the table, leaving no time for rest, no room for dreams. In Nigeria, where families often spend up to 65% of their income on food, Mariam struggles with the impossible task of making ends meet. Mariam’s story is not unique. She represents hundreds of women in her village, and millions across Nigeria, who are trapped in a cycle of poverty and food insecurity. These women work relentlessly, yet survival is all they know. Dreams of a better future for their children, of education, healthcare, or even decent clothing, seem out of reach. For families like Mariam’s, life revolves around one thing: the fight for enough food to survive. At Hope Mart, we see Mariam and the countless women like her. Our mission is to break this cycle, to offer a lifeline. By providing affordable food through our community store, we are not just filling stomachs—we are offering hope, dignity, and the chance for a brighter future. Join us in making a difference, one family at a time.
